GTA 5 reclaims UK Gaming Chart top spot

GTA 5 has returned to the head of the field, reclaiming top spot in the UK All Format Gaming chart after two weeks behind FIFA 14.

Despite having grossed more than $1 billion in its opening three days on sale, the latest instalment of the Grand Theft Auto gaming franchise has been unable to outsell FIFA 14 in recent weeks, with the EA Sports title having topped the table since its September 27 release date.

Now, however, GTA 5 has found a second wind and reclaimed top spot, outselling all other games in the UK for the week ending October 12. The Rockstar title has been given a helping hand with week-on-week FIFA 14 sales dropping 66 per cent.

With FIFA 14 dropping just one spot to second, two new Nintendo entries have taken third and fourth positions with Pokemon X and Pokemon Y respectively.

Fifth place goes to another new entry, with the PS3 exclusive Beyond: Two Souls debuting lower down the tablet than many had anticipated it would. The Quantic Dream developed title has failed to emulate the chart-topping success of its 2010 offering Heavy Rain.

While F1 2013 has dropped three places during the past seven days to round out the week in sixth, Ubisoft’s seventh placed Just Dance 2014 is up two places on last week’s showing.

With Microsoft, Disney and Nintendo represented in the three remaining top ten positions, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, Disney Infinity and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker have rounded out the week in places eight through to ten respectively.
