GTA 5 lands as digital Xbox Games download

With three million copies of the game having already been sold in the UK alone, developer Rockstar has launched GTA 5 as a digital download through Xbox Games.

With a digital GTA 5 download having been available for PS3 gamers since launch last month, the Xbox bound download has only just landed, four weeks after the game hit retailers and generated more than $1 billion in just three days on sale.

Priced at £49.99, the Xbox Games hosted digital edition of GTA 5 is no cheaper than its disc-based counterpart, and measures in at a sizeable 7.63GB.

Although the digital PS3 edition of GTA 5 was plagued by a raft of streaming issues at launch, a problem which still persists, it is not currently known if the downloadable Xbox 360 version of the game is affected by the same issues.

The release of the Xbox Game GTA 5 download has coincided with the latest GTA 5 update, with patch 1.04 set to address a range of bugs within the chart topping game.

According to Rockstar, the latest GTA update “is expected to fix the remaining instances of issues that have caused vehicle purchase loss and will also enable the functionality through which we'll be providing this GTA$ stimulus cash to players."

With GTA Online having launched on October 1, the online element of the Grand Theft Auto franchise has caused a number of bugs to appear, with many gamers reporting problems with lost characters, vehicles and all manner of other glitches.
