The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will both land with a 20-megapixel camera, according to a new report.

Sammobile says its insider sources managed to get a hold of a Galaxy S6 prototype, confirming the high-resolution sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 made use of a 16-megapixel sensor, so this would be a clear step-up in resolution.

The report also reveals that the rear-camera on both devices will be able to take photos in 20-megapixel, 15-megapixel, 11-megapixel, 8-megapixel, 6-megapixel, and 2.4-megapixel resolutions.

Samsung will make both the rear and front sensors on the smartphones, the latter proferring a 5-megapixel resolution.

This front-facing camera is, apparently, the same found on Samsung’s Galaxy A-series.

The leakers also revealed that the rear-facing camera would tout optical image stabilisation.

OIS is a sort of holy grail for smartphone cameras, as it allows physical apparatus to compensate for shaking during recording.

This is in contrast to the less effective digital image stabilisation, which sees software pick up the slack from your wobbly handiwork.

Both devices are expected to launch at Mobile World Congress 2015 on March 1.
