Onkyo has just launched the new Onkyo Music download store in the UK, which looks set to offer hundreds of thousands of hi-res tracks.

This is thanks to a new partnership between the Japanese A/V brand and digital music firm 7Digital, which will see the service move beyond its home turf to the UK, USA, and Germany.

All of the hi-res songs available to download will be 24-bit 44.1kHz – 192kHz, in addition to millions of CD quality 16-bit FLAC files.

The service originally launched in Japan back in 2005 as ‘e-onkyo’, and has since grown to be the country’s primary outlet for hi-res audio.

Kevin Miyagi, President of Onkyo Entertainment Technology, said: “As one of the world’s leading hi-fi/home theatre manufacturers we can now provide music lovers with a full end-to-end hi-res audio experience.”

He added: “Onkyo are striving to be the best in class for hi-res audio experiences.”

The Onkyo Music store will cover all musical genres, including ‘the increasingky popular and steadily growing’ global catalogue of Anime music.

Tracks and albums will be sold as they come at ‘competitive prices’, with a hi-res album retailing at between $15 and $20.

Individual tracks will be priced at the local equivalent of between $3 and $4.

They are a fantastic partner to work with, and we are pleased to be a part of this new compelling offer for their customers.”

The service is availably in beta right now, and can be accessed via the Onkyo website, as well as apps for both iOS and Android.
