iPad sales will decrease by 30 per cent in 2015, industry analysts have predicted.
With the tablet market having suffered from stagnant adoption rates in 2014, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted sales will continue to drop over the coming 12 months.
Speaking in a note to investors, as reported by PhoneArena, the Apple-connected analyst has suggested that a lack of reasons to upgrade will affect iPad uptake figures.
Although updates to the iPad Air and iPad mini lines are expected to be minimal in 2015, it is widely believed the addition of an oversized 12.9-inch iPad Pro line will help bolster struggling figures.
“While we are confident a new 12.9-inch iPad model can create improved user experience with enhanced productivity in the long term, we don’t anticipate it will contribute meaningfully to shipments momentum anytime soon,” Kuo stated.
“Its commercialisation may fall behind expectations, leaving limited time for shipping.”
He added: “We are conservative on promotion, likely executed by Apple (US) or retailers, of existing products due to the lack of innovative applications."

While Apple shifted 63.4 million iPads in 2014, Kuo has predicted that just 45 million of the market leading slates will be sold in 2015.
Despite such a sizeable drop in sales, it is expected that Apple will remain the leading player in the tablet race.
