Sony has announced the stainless steel edition of its Smartwatch 3 will go on sale across the globe this week.
The premium Android Wear smartwatch was announced at CES 2015 to complement the sporty silicone edition, which went on sale last year.
Aside from the attractive steely design overhaul, the watch essentially remains the same gadget. It runs on Android 5.0, has an LCD display, built-in GPS and the ability to load your music onto the local storage.
Sony has also announced (via Android Police) it is launching a custom holder kit for the Smartwatch 3, which allows the removable core to be used with any 24mm watch strap. Available in the coming weeks, it’ll also be available with brown or black leather straps.
Sony says it’s also making leather and stainless steel straps available for existing users hoping to freshen up the look of their wearable. Those accessories will arrive in early spring.
Shoppers who snap up the new stainless steel edition will also get six months free access to the Todoist Premium productivity app.

The original Smartwatch 3 earned a modest 6/10 score in a TrustedReviews test. It was marked down for its dull, ordinary design, but the stainless steel edition cutest that issue with aplomb.
The announcement comes less than 24 hours after it was revealed Android Wear devices sold just 720,000 total units in 2014. Can this stainless steel edition kick start things in 2015?
