Apple will launch two new iPads this year, including an iPad mini with a Retina display and a slimmer iPad 5.
That's the assertion made by Bloomberg, at any rate. If true, it's something of a best case scenario for Apple fans.
The report confirms what we've heard about a September 10 iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C launch, but then claims that Apple will follow this up with a dual iPad launch later in the year.
Essentially, this will mean an all-new iOS range going into the Christmas period, which should make Apple shareholders sleep a little easier.
At one point it was feared that the iPad mini 2 would omit the super-sharp Retina display that many felt was the major omission from the original iPad mini. Last month it was claimed that Apple would be forced to delay releasing a Retina-equipped iPad mini until 2014.
Now, however, it seems Apple as addressed its production issues in time to produce these 7.9-inch Retina displays at volume.
According to this latest report, the iPad 5 will contain essentially the same 9.7-inch display that has made its way into the last two iPads, but housed in "a body that more closely resembles the current iPad mini."
In other words, it will be much slimmer and lighter than the iPad 4, with a significantly narrower side bezel.
This will represent the first significant revamp since the Retina display was introduced to the range in March 2012 with the iPad 3.
