Samsung has launched two new mid-range tablets under the Samsung Galaxy Tab A moniker.
The company quietly announced the new tablets at a recent press event in Russia.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A series is available in 8-inch and 9.7-inch, both of which feature a 1,024 x 768 resolution and an iPad and Nexus 9-like 4:3 aspect ratio.
As reported by Russian website Hi-Tech Mail, both tablets feature a metallic body and support for wireless charging, reflecting Samsung's current premium direction as set out with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 at the beginning of March.
Powering both Galaxy Tab A tablets is a 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, which is likely to be Snapdragon 410. There's 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for expansion.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A range comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

There are some suggestions that the Galaxy Tab A will replace the Galaxy Tab 4 series, which makes a certain amount of sense given the similarly mid-range specs.
Samsung will release its Galaxy Tab A tablets in Russia next month, with the 8-inch model starting from 16,990 rubles (£188) and the 9.7-inch model starting from 20,990 rubles (£232), which both apply to the Wi-Fi models. There'll be 4G versions for a slightly higher cost, too.
