OnePlus has teased a new ‘gamechanger’ product set for launch in April, although it’s keeping quiet on the exact details.
The Chinese company posted a series of images hinting at what looks to be a completely new product.
The images contained various messages, including ‘Start a new game’, ‘#OneGameChanger’, ‘For the fun of it’, and ‘You’re in control’.
What we can say for sure that this isn’t the OnePlus 2; the company openly stated: “It’s not a tablet, and it’s not a smartwatch. But it is a game changer.”
This is further cemented by the fact that it hasn’t even been a year since the OnePlus One launched, and OnePlus is pretty vocal about not wanting its smartphone range to include too many SKUs.
That points us towards an accessory, which isn’t unprecedented for OnePlus. Last year, the company launched a OnePlus-branded power bank.

The most obvious contender for a new addition to OnePlus’ product roster is an Android controller.
This is clued by the advertisement messages, particularly ‘You’re in control’ text, which overlays an image of two hands about a controller’s width apart.
An Android game controller would be a sensible addition to OnePlus’ product line-up, as it would gel with OnePlus’ existing Android customer-base.
It would also give customers a reason to hit up the OnePlus online store again in the downtime between flagship smartphone releases.
“Innovation and revolutionary ideas that shake up the industry are what OnePlus has built itself on,” said OnePlus Digital Marketing Manager David Sanmartin, writing on the company’s blog.
He added: “When it came to think about our next product, we decided on a curveball.”
We’ll have to wait until April to find out what OnePlus actually has in store for us, however.
