This is what dignity looks like
Who says only us humans can use wearable tech? Not the makers of Disco Dog, a smartphone-controlled LED dog vest that lights your mutt up like a Christmas tree.
The vest contains 256 LEDs. Using your phone, you can make them flash, create patterns, or even have words scroll across it. Maybe your dog's name, or a friendly greeting to passers-by. If your dog strays too far, a 'Lost Dog' message will flash up.
The animation modes include sparkle, stripes, firefly and alarm. It's powered by a 3.7-volt rechargeable lithium polymer battery, and the LED grid and electronics can be removed so you can wash the vest. It fastens to your pup using velcro enclosures, so you can adjust it for a snug fit. All that's missing is a subwoofer. Badum-tish.
You control it using an app, which is available for both iOS and Android. Using it, you select animations, or type in the text you want to flash across your dog. You can also adjust the brightness and colour, including two-colour gradients that flow across the vest. More animations will be added later.

The firm has made a prototype, and is looking for funds to tweak the electronics and materials, improve the software interface, add more animations and modes and organise a launch event.
