Budding Calvin Harrises take note
A new pair of cans have broken cover, said to be perfect for dance music producers.
The Pioneer HRM-7 have a new 40mm HD driver that promises a neutral, high-res sound up to 40kHz. They should also deliver fantastic bass, thanks to the dual airflow chambers and a damping structure in the housings.
You won't have to share your tunes with everyone on the bus thanks to the fully enclosed ear pads. Which is a godsend if you're actually listening to something less bass-heavy.
That sound isolation will also help block out background noise when you're laying down tracks, or the sound of the crowd if you're DJing. Assuming there is a crowd.
Three-layer damping reduces resonance, so the parts won't vibrate when you chuck on a bit of Barry White.

They certainly look the part, nice and chunky, with replaceable velour-covered memory foam ear pads that mould to fit you, and a gold-plated 6.3mm stereo jack. They also come with both a detachable 1.2m coiled cable and a 3m straight one. Maybe you can swap depending on what kind of mood you're in.
They're part of the Studio Monitor series, so are aimed at professional knob twiddlers who produce dance music. But that doesn't mean us amateurs can't enjoy them too.
They'll go on sale in March and cost £169.
