Dropbox for Windows Phone
One of the biggest app gaps in the Windows Phone roster has been filled with the belated arrival of Dropbox.
The Windows Phone platform is infamously lacking when it comes to apps, particularly in terms of timeliness and support after release.
One particularly glaring and really quite embarrassing omission has been the lack of an official Windows Phone Dropbox app. That's no longer the case.
Over on the official Dropbox blog, the team has revealed that there's now a Dropbox app available on the Windows Phone Store.
This allows you to do all of the key things you could do on other smartphone platforms (even BlackBerry) ages ago, such as automatically back up your photos to the popular cloud storage service, mark files as favourites for offline access, and access multiple accounts.
In addition, you get the usual array of Windows Phone-specific features. You can pin any Dropbox folder to your Start screen for quick access.
The Dropbox app is available to download for free now, provided you have a Windows 8 handset.
Dropbox's announcement isn't particularly well timed, with all attention on Microsoft's recently revealed Windows 10, and its plans to make apps universal so that they work on phones and PCs alike.

Actually, scratch that last point. Dropbox's late-to-the-party announcement is PERFECTLY timed to demonstrate why Microsoft's new approach is so necessary.
