The forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 will indeed be available with a dual-edge display, according to new reports on Monday.
The well-connected SamMobile blog says it can confirm a ‘special variant’ of the eagerly anticipated new flagship device is on the way.
Samsung released a limited number of Galaxy Note Edge handsets late last year, which was essentially a Galaxy Note 4 with a screen that curved around the right edge of the phone.
This flexible display enabled users to navigate around the phone faster using side-loaded ‘panels’ featuring favourite apps, news, sport and finance.
According to the report, the presence of a dual-edge display will enable users to choose which side the panels are on, depending on how they hold the device.
Some Galaxy Note Edge reviewers suggested it was more difficult for left handed people to use the edge screen, so this option could help to give the phone a more universal appeal.
SamMobile says the S6 Edge variant will bring a Glance Lighting feature which will see the edge light up when phonically or alerts are incoming.
Users will also be able to assign specific lighting colours to their favourite contacts when notifications come in, according to the report.

If a dual-edge Samsung Galaxy S6 does arrive (and it’s still a big ‘if’), we’d bet on it being available in limited numbers, just like the Note Edge.
According to recent reports Samsung is still deciding on the final design for its Galaxy handset, although speculation on Monday suggested the firm had now ditched plans for an all-metal design.
The S6, which looks set to be Samsung’s most important phone launch in years given its recent slump, could be revealed at the MWC 2015 event in March, or at a special event shortly thereafter.
