YotaPhone 2
The innovative, dual-screened YotaPhone 2 is hitting European shops in December, it's been confirmed.
Launched at MWC 2014 back in February, the Android-powered YotaPhone 2 is most notable for its distinctive dual-sided nature.
On one side you get a fairly standard 5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, while on the other you get a 4.7-inch 960 x 540 always-on e-ink screen. The latter, of course, will be far more energy efficient than the former, apparently boosting the battery life to 50 hours.
It's intended to let you deal with smartphone notifications, read newspapers and books, and utilise social media apps - all things that don't necessarily need bold swathes of colour - without draining the phone's battery.
Underneath those unusual screens, the YotaPhone 2 resembles your typical reasonably well specced Android phone from around a year ago. It has a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2,500mAh battery with Qi wireless charging support.
It runs on Android 4.4.3, which isn't even the most recent version of KitKat, but we suppose that's the price you pay for featuring such an unusual UI.
The first YotaPhone was a little underwhelming to say the least, but the YotaPhone 2 looks to be a much more attractive and capable device. We'll be able to see if it proves to be such soon.
The YotaPhone 2 will hit Europe this months, starting with its native Russia, for 32,990 rubles (£390).
