Skype adds drawing feature to Windows Phone app

Microsoft-owned Skype has added an exclusive new feature to the Skype Windows Phone app - the ability to sketch and send drawings to your contacts.

Skype 2.24 for Windows Phone brings a number of improvements and new features, but the most notable by far is this ability to sketch out messages.

You can now draw across an entire screen-filling blank canvass of a message using your finger, applying colour if you desire. On a more practical front, it's now possible to use the feature to annotate maps and photos.

As revealed in a recent Skype blog post, all you need to do to start drawing in Skype is hit the plus button in a chat and select drawing.

As mentioned, this feature is exclusive to Windows Phone, so iOS and Android Skype users will have to wait for drawing to come to their platform.

Aside from this sketching ability, Skype 2.24 adds the ability to automatically sign in from your Microsoft account. Microsoft has also added the ability to sign in from your old Skype account.

HD screen support has also been added, and app resume times in Windows Phone 8.1 should now be drastically improved.

Skype 2.24 for Windows Phone is available to download now from the Windows Phone Store.
