LG confirms G Watch R will officially launch in early November

After weeks of waiting, LG has finally confirmed the Android Wear-toting LG G Watch R will go on sale next month.

Following reports earlier on Thursday claiming it may go on sale through third party retailers on October 24, the Korean firm moved in with some official timelines.

Brits will be among those to get the round-faced smartwatch on their wrists with the launch taking place in the UK, France, Italy and Spain at the beginning of November.

The G Watch R, which connects to Android Jelly Bean (and up) smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0, will then roll out in North America and Asia soon after.

Launched at IFA 2014, the G Watch R is LG’s second Android Wear smartwatch, having been launched at the IFA 2014 tech show in the first week of September.

It’ll arrive with a 1.3-inch OLED display with a 320 x 320 resolution. There’s a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4GB of built-in storage 2GB RAM, IP67 certified water resistance and a 410mAh battery.

Third party retailers have pegged the device with a £187 pre-order cost, but LG is yet to reveal the official UK price.

The company’s announcement comes following a slew of disappointing reviews for the G Watch R’s biggest rival, the Moto 360? Smartwatch fanciers will hope the G Watch R fares better.
