HTC One M9 might ditch naming suffix

The HTC One M9 is expected to launch early next year, although latest reports have suggested the flagship phone could adopt a new name.

With the HTC One M8 having launched this year as a direct follow-on to last year’s HTC One (M7), it has been claimed the Taiwanese smartphone maker will bestow its upcoming iPhone 6 rival with an all new naming convention.

Although the HTC One M9 has been ruled out as the new phone’s upcoming name, a possible replacement title is still unclear.

According to serial tipster @Upleaks, the HTC One M9 will adopt a more complex naming convention.

“OK, here’s a “little” leak; {pullquote]Next HTC flagship is NOT the M9.{/pullquote} They will not use simple codename like M* anymore,” the tipster claimed.

There is currently little known about what the HTC One M8 replacement will have to offer.

It is expected that HTC will once again bestow its flagship phone with a full metal bodied design, with the expected Galaxy S6 challenger also tipped to feature BoomSound stereo speakers, Android 5.0 Lollipop and a reworked Sense UI.

Given HTC’s past efforts, a HTC One M9 release date could be held in the weeks following the early March MWC 2014 conference.
