Apple Watch accessories are now up for pre-order

Accessorise your accessory

Apple's first timepiece might not go on sale until early next year, but you can already pre-order accessories for it.

They're not made by a standard accessories company, but a traditional maker of Swiss watches. Which hints maybe Apple has converted the old-fashioned watch industry to its techy timepiece.

So what can you buy? Swiss maker Dwiss is seeking funding for a range of covers "that will attach to the watch just like the covers attack to the iPhone", as well as straps, lugs and watch faces.

Why you would need a cover for your watch is beyond us, but it will add a personal touch, we suppose.

They're made of thermoplastic polyurethane, and can be easily attached to the Apple Watch. With their bright colours, they look like the range of cases Apple makes for its iPhone 5C.

If it's a traditional watch strap you're after, Dwiss has you covered. You can choose from a range of straps and lugs – the stainless steel clips that attach it to the watch face – to make a unique colour combination.

The brown or black leather straps make the wearable look more like a traditional timepiece.

They're very reasonably priced too, considering Swiss watch companies usually charge the earth. The covers are $19 (£12), and straps start at $49 (£30). The watch faces sell for just $1.

We're likely to see plenty of accessories for the Apple Watch in the future. The Cupertino company hasn't named a date when it will go on sale yet, it's only said "early next year".
