Amazon has partnered with O2 to sell mobile phone contracts directly through its own website.
The new partnership means you won’t actually have to go through O2 to pick up one of the network provider’s tariffs.
It’s set to work in much the same way as choosing a tariff elsewhere. Users can compare prices, check out customer reviews, and transfer phone numbers to a new tariff.
Xavier Garambois, Amazon’s VP for EU Retail, says Amazon is trying to make it ‘as fast and easy as possible’ to buy a new phone contract.
“We’re focused on helping customers choose the right phone, at the right price, with fast delivery and are celebrating the launch with a host of great value deals.”
Tariffs start from £13 a month, with a number of phones available at £0 upfront cost.
The HTC One M8 will be free with unlimited texts and 1GB of data, assuming you’re willing to shell out £28 a month.
Nokia’s Lumia 735 is also available with zero upfront fee, giving you 300 mintues, 300MB of data, and unlimited texts for £15 per month.
The Fire phone is also now available over at Amazon.co.uk, with a healthy selection of O2 tariffs on offer for the shopper-friendly device.
All device plans on offer from Amazon are confirmed to be 24-month contracts
If you’d rather throw down cash for a sim-free handset, don’t panic – Amazon has assured us it’ll still be flogging unlocked smartphones in the UK for the foreseeable future.
