Press renders of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S have emerged online, giving us a proper look at the AMOLED tablets arriving later this month.
We’ve already seen a few leaked real pictures of the upcoming Galaxy Tab S range, which should arrive with 10.5- and 8.4-inch models, but now the official press renders have appeared.
Thanks to notorious tech tipster @evleaks, we can now take an official look at what the two Galaxy Tab S slates will look like.
As you can see from the renders, both the 10.5- and 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S models feature two dot connections on the rear panel, which is perforated to mimic the Samsung Galaxy S5. These are proprietary ports for Samsung’s book cover, which will seemingly be revamped as an accessory for the new Tab S range.
Both tablets will supposedly pack QHD 2560 x 1600p resolution AMOLED displays running on an octa-core Exynos 5420 processor with 3GB of RAM.
An 8-megapixel rear camera is expected to be paired with a 2.1-megapixel front-facing sensor. While on the connectivity front, the Tab S range should pack Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS and 4G LTE connectivity, as well as an IR blaster.
As with the new 2014 high-end tablets like the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, these AMOLED tablets will run the new Magazine UX rather than the standard Touchwiz used with smartphones and other tablets.
What’s rather interesting is that these press renders all but confirm the Galaxy Tab S tablets will feature the same fingerprint sensor technology found in the Samsung Galaxy S5, indicated by the silver ring around the home button.
From the looks of it, they won’t feature the same IP67 water- and dust-resistant certification of the Galaxy S5 though, as the microUSB charging port lacks a protective waterproof covering flap.
