Samsung smartphones will continue to grow in size, with a 7-inch handset spotted doing the rounds in the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) labs.
With the Korean manufacturer having last year launched a 6.3-inch smartphone in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Mega, latest leaks have hinted that things are set to get even bigger, with the new device to further blur the lines between smartphones and tablets.
Surfacing under the product code of the SM-T2558, the mooted 7-inch Samsung phone will reportedly echo the capabilities of the MWC unveiled Huawei MediaPad X1, a 7-inch tablet with 4G cellular capabilities and full phone calling abilities.
Having been the subject of multiple rumours in recent weeks, the Samsung SM-T2558 will reportedly boast a middling array of specs, with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor lining up alongside 1.5GB of RAM and an 8-megapixel rear-mounted camera.
Sadly, it appears that the Samsung SM-T2558 will prioritise screen size over quality, with the 7-inch panel reportedly set to feature just a 720p HD resolution.
Although the handset dimensions shown on the leaked FCC filing point to a device 205mm (8-inches) in size, this includes what will be quite a sizeable bezel around the 7-inch display.
While an FFC filing suggests the device could be with us sooner rather than later, there is currently no word on when Samsung’s 7-inch smartphone will enter the realms of reality, or indeed how much it will cost.
