According to LG, this is your lot for G3 colours
No additional LG G3 colours will be launched in the future, the Korean manufacturer has confirmed.
With the flagship LG G3 having formally entered the realms of reality this week, the smartphone maker has told TrustedReviews that with the G3 to be available in five colours at launch, there are no further plans to build on this line up.
Questioned on whether there were plans to expand its G3 offerings with additional colour schemes in the future, Chul Bae Lee, Vice President of LG’s Mobile Communications Design Lab told us simply: “No, this collection of five is all the G3 colours we will have in the future.”
At launch the LG G3 will be available in black, white and gold colour schemes, as well as ‘moon violet’ and ‘burgundy red’ options.
Despite offering the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 rival in a variety of hues, the manufacturer has fully admitted that it does not expect the more vibrant tones to achieve high sales figures.
“Preferring the violet G3 is very different from purchasing the violet G3, but still we are pushing it,” Lee told us.
He added: “We expect that the titanium, white and gold will be popular, the red and violet will, preferences wise be pretty high, but I can expect purchases wise they will prove a little too unique.
“There is a demand but the problem is that although people have preferences on the colours they would like their phones to be, when they go to buy them they are changing their minds.”
Having confirmed that there will be no new LG G3 colours moving forward, the LG exec has suggested that a number of competitors offer too many colour options of their flagship phones.
“Some of the competition release huge colour variations but, as far as I know, they are experiencing the same situation where only one or two colours are heavily focussing in sales,” he said.
“Currently, the phone market is still 85 per cent black and white phones.”
