Microsoft Xbox One E3 conference to focus on 2015 and beyond

Microsoft’s Xbox One E3 press conference could focus mainly on games coming in 2015 and beyond.

According to Geoff Keighley, Spike TV host, Microsoft will reveal some games for this year at E3 2014, but the majority will be those coming out next year.

Speaking on the latest edition of Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb’s podcast, Keighley provided some insider insight on what Microsoft has in store for us in June.

“I could tell that [Xbox boss Phil Spencer] was certainly thinking about how important it was for him to have a great E3 and for this team to have a great E3. I know everyone here seems really energised about showing a lot of great content”, said Keighley.

However, it looks like that “great content” won’t arrive on your Xbox One for quite some time, as the presentation may focus on the longer term game release schedule from Microsoft and other publishers.

“I think it’s going to be a good E3. You know, my sense right now is we’re going to see some games that are coming this year, but there’s going to be a lot of stuff that is 2015 and beyond from all the companies.”

“What’s exciting about E3 is that you’re going to get a taste of what this year is, but also hopefully a little bit of a longer roadmap.”

Last year’s E3 conference from Microsoft was understandably focused on the new Xbox One console and its launch game line-up.

“There were a crazy number of games coming at launch and there’s a little bit of a lull with all the companies now.”

What’s exciting as that Keighley also said Microsoft will show “game after game after game”, so although they might not arrive within the next six months, we will see a lot of new Xbox One titles.

Apparently there will also be “a lot of developers on stage” with Microsoft this year, potentially revealing some new Xbox One exclusives.

We already know Lionhead studios and Black Tusk (formerly Microsoft Vancouver) are working on new Xbox One projects and we should hopefully see something from Gears of War developer Epic Games at E3 as well.
