The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime release date has been pegged for mid-June, well in Korea at least.

Adding fuel to the rumours the QHD display touting S5 Prime will be a limited edition, a new report suggests the phone will only initially be available in Korea.

According to Naver, the Galaxy S5 Prime could go on sale as early as mid-June in the company’s Korean homeland anyway.

The report suggests the phone will be released for all major South Korean carriers next month, with no mention of a further worldwide launch.

Earlier rumours suggested the QHD Samsung Galaxy S5 variant would only launch in limited qualities similar to what Samsung did with the flexible display Samsung Galaxy Round.

This is due to reports Samsung is struggling to cope with the high production costs of the QHD 2560 x 1440p OLED panels for the S5 Prime, hence why the S5 ‘only’ has a full 1080p HD display.

We’ve had several rumours surrounding the S5 Prime, and their frequency suggests a launch is imminent.

The S5 Prime is tipped to feature a 5.2-inch QHD 2560 x 1440p display to rival the LG G3, running on a Snapdragon 805 processor with 3GB of RAM.

In the rear expect to find a 16-megapixel rear camera with Samsung’s ISOCELL technology.

From the looks of leaked images, Samsung might actually introduce a metal body with the S5 Prime, upgraded the ‘perforated’ effect plastic back of the flagship Galaxy S5.

The phone is expected to run the new Android 4.4.3 KitKat with the new Touchwiq UI found in the standard S5.

If the rumours are true, don’t expect to get your hands on the premium version of the S5 in the UK anytime soon.
