Google's popular Nexus 7 built by Asus just became an even better deal. The tablet still only costs £199 but now you can get £50 of free Google Play credit into the bargain.
The deal which is being run by Asus, rather than Google, means that anyone who buys a Nexus 7 from a retailer or reseller between May 5 and June 1 will be allowed to claim the voucher. A process which is done online, but will require you have an invoice number and are able to send a screenshot or photo of your receipt. You'll also need to claim within 30 days of June 1st too, or you'll lose out.
Interestingly, while companies like PC World are promoting the Asus offer, the Google Play hardware store itself is not. We've checked over the terms, and there's no reason that a Nexus 7 bought directly from Google wouldn't be eligible, but the company certainly isn't making a big deal about it.
Deals like this always make us wonder if something is afoot. Good offers can often mean that retailers and manufacturers are trying to clear stock out before a new product launches. So could it be that this is a prelude to a new tablet from Asus? Or perhaps a different manufacturer is going to be making the next Nexus tablet? Perhaps, as we suggested, it's HTC.
However you look at it, it's a great deal and a superb way to get a load of free music, apps or videos. We'd also advise you keep an eye out for Google's often generous offers on music and film downloads too. Sometimes you'll get an email offering albums for a huge reduction, and with your £50 of credit, you could pick up a lot of great stuff at a bargain price.
