Rockstar to launch new Xbox One/PS4 game before March

Rockstar has revealed it will launch a new game for the Xbox One and PS4 before the end of this financial year.

As the financial year runs until March 2015, you can expect a Rockstar game to arrive on your Xbox One or PS4 before that date.

Before you get too excited, Rockstar hasn’t provided any details as to what game this will actually be or when it will be announced.

When directly asked whether the game would be revealed at E3 2014 in June, the company simply stated:

“Rockstar has not announced if it will be at E3.”

Of course, the speculation will now begin as to whether this will be an instalment to an existing Rockstar franchise or brand new IP from the GTA 5 developer.

Since Rockstar hasn’t announced a new title since the GTA 5 release date in September last year, a full 1080p HD refresh of the game for the new consoles (and hopefully the PC too) could be on the cards.

“We don’t have anything to share about the possibility to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now,” said Rockstar in 2013.

However, there have been rumours the Sony PS4 E3 2014 press conference will be the stage used to unveil GTA 6.

Of course, it could be possible the game coming this year will be Red Dead Redemption 2, reportedly with the name Red Dead Rebellion.

Adding to the Red Dead rumours, Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick classed the series as one of the publisher’s “permanent” franchises, which could suggest a sequel is on its way.

There hasn’t been any mention of the game since Red Dead Redemption was launched in 2010.

The upcoming Rockstar game could also be new franchise Agent that was announced way back in June 2009 but never came out.

“Agent takes players on a paranoid journey into the world of counter-intelligence, espionage and political assassinations during the height of the Cold War at the end of the 1970s.”

Could it even be an L.A Noire sequel? We’ll just have to wait and see.
