BlackBerry 10.2 update roll-out begins

BlackBerry has announced that the new BlackBerry 10.2 update will start rolling out to users this week.

Offering new features for BB10 OS users, the BlackBerry 10.2 update will be available to download this week for devices like the BlackBerry Z10, BlackBerry Q10 or BlackBerry Z30.

“BlackBerry 10.2 OS introduces new features like BlackBerry Priority Hub, BlackBerry Natural Sounds and BBM now in any app that will help you be more productive and stay better connected when it counts”, said BlackBerry in an official blog post. “Plus, with hundreds of new refinements, BlackBerry 10.2 makes the things you do every day faster and easier.”

With the 10.2 update you’ll get the new Priority that will learn which conversations and people are the most important for you. Those will automatically get prioritised to the top of your inbox.

There’s also a new attachment view that lets you view and organise your documents and other content across various apps.

Notifications with BlackBerry 10.2 have changed a bit too, as you now have instant previews of BBM, text and e-mail content in any other app. If you fancy responding to them straight away you can do a single swipe to get to the BlackBerry Hub.

The number of steps neeed to share content with your friends and family has also been reduced with the 10.2 update. There’s a new share button in any app that suggests how and who to share your content with. This learns your habits the more you use it as well.

Similar to iOS devices, there are now lock screen notifications with BlackBerry 10.2. You can quickly preview texts, emails, BBM or other notifications and customise what content is shown on the lock screen too.

Also, BBM Video has been updated with Natural Sound to make conversations between BB10 devices sound “more natural and realistic”, and the copy and paste functionality has been improved.

You can also quickly reply with a BBM, text or email to any incoming phone calls you aren’t able to take at that precise moment. Similarly, the BlackBerry Calendar offers an “I’m running late” function to keep your contacts posted when you’re stuck in traffic or any other issue.

“BlackBerry 10.2 OS gives you a lot of new reasons to love your BlackBerry 10 smartphone, and we haven’t even mentioned the updates to Docs to Go, a new BlackBerry Hub icon, camera enhancements – but the best way to experience all BlackBerry 10.2 has to offer is to try it yourself.”
