Microsoft Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 released in the UK today


Microsoft has announced that its new Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 are now available to purchase in the UK.


Available today through Microsoft retail stores and retailers like John Lewis, Argos, Currys and PC World, the Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 are priced from £719 and £359 respectively.


There is also a range of new accessories for the tablets on sale now, including the Touch Cover 2, Type Cover 2, Power Cover, a Docking Station and Arc Mouse Surface Edition.


Microsoft has chosen the same day as the Apple iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 launch event to release its duo of new Windows 8 tablets, which could mean even less publicity for the devices.


Microsoft Surface 2 Features

Running Windows 8 RT, the Microsoft Surface 2 has a 10.6-inch ClearType Full HD display and offers a full-size USB 3.0 port.


The Surface 2 is powered by a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and is packaged in a form factor slightly thinner and lighter than its predecessor.


It comes with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 RT and Outlook 2013 RT for free.


In the rear is a 5-megapixel camera, while up-front is a 3.5-megapixel snapper for video calling. Both of these are capable of capturing full 1080p HD video.


Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Features

The Surface Pro 2 has the comes with a fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor that delivers better performance and up to 75 per cent longer battery life than the original Surface Pro.


It runs the full Windows 8.1 OS and offers a trio of USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 port. It comes with a Pro Pen stylus and adds a revised dual-angle kickstand for better usage options. The tablet’s 10.6-inch screen can now be angled at 55- or 22-degree angles.
