Apple has announced that its iLife and iWork suites are getting a refresh in line with the iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks release date.
All the apps are now 64-bit compatible to make them faster and more responsive for users. They are also free for any new OS X or iOS 7 devices.
The apps within the iLife and iWork suites are available to download right now from the App Store.
Apple has also added collaboration for iCloud, which means multiple users can now edit documents at the same time with live updates.
iLife Suite
iPhoto
Never been faster or smoother than now. iOS iPhne has a brand new look, that makes it easier to enjoy your photos and albums.
Users can also make Photobooks on their iPad and iPhone, like they could with the OS X version.
iMovie
There’s new functionality for iMovie on iOS devices. You can do picture in picture and utilise other editing tools directly on the iPhone or iPad.
The Mac desktop version has been updated to make it easier to browse and share.
Apple has also introduced iMovie Theatre that combines all your movies and trailers in one place and then shared using iCloud.
GarageBand
GarageBand has also been updated for iOS 7 too. The app will now live update across all iOS and OS X devices.
On iOS you now have 32 tracks, while on the Mac you’re treated to a new sound library presented within an entirely new design.
The Mac version has a new feature called Drummer that will virtually accompany all your songs, but you can interact with it too. It is powered by the performance from some of the most famous drummers, and GarageBand will offer you various tools to change the way it sounds.
You can try out various drummers, and you can add more drummers, tracks and other content via a “single in-app purchase”.
iWork Suite
The new UI makes it “easier to do things while at the same time being more powerful,” claims Apple. The iLife suite has also been completely re-written for the Mac in the biggest update ever.
You’ll get complete full file compatibility across iOS, Mac and the web versions of all three iWork apps.
Pages
There’s a new context-sensitive format panel that will act more like Microsoft Word than the previous iteration. “What’s great about this is that we’re not cluttering the screen with a lot of controls.”
Numbers
All the charts in Numbers now Live Update across all devices and both the OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 versions offer new UI designs.
Keynote
The new Keynote comes with new effects and animations that were showcased during the iPad launch event.
