Business leaders of the future will spring for a fancy smartwatch over sartorial fineries, at least according to Samsung.

The South Korean tech giant has released a set of predictions for 2015, amongst them the supposition that wearable technology is fast-approaching boardroom trend.

Wearable technology will create a new era of power dressing for business leaders,” reads the firm’s list, as reported by The Verge.

Samsung offered some corollary data to support this expected trend, revealing that 37 per cent of wearable tech users felt a wearable device boosted their career, 47 per cent felt more intelligent, and 61 per cent felt more efficient.

The second prediction was that people will restructure their working lives around ‘power hours’, peak performance times unveiled by tech.

Third was that virtual reality tech and innovate use of displays will lead to digital shops, helping retailers avoid costly overheads that come with brick-and-mortar business.

The electronics company also predicted, perhaps self-indulgently, that smart home systems would switch from ‘geek to chic’ as the technology improves.

Finally, Samsung reckons that every child born in the next 12 months will learn coding as a core curriculum subject.

While the list is interesting, it does feel a tad self-promoting – Samsung is invested in all the categories named, including wearables, virtual reality, displays, smart homes, and coding.
