Nintendo has announced one of its most iconic games, Duck Hunt, will be reborn on the Nintendo Wii U this festive season.
The original version of the NES classic will be available to download from the Wii U’s Virtual Console on Christmas Day.
Wii U owners will be able to substitute that plastic orange and grey gun for the Wiimote in order to experience what Christmas would have might have been like for a gaming enthusiast during the dawn of the home console era.
As an endearing Arstechnica report points out, the rebirth will be the only way long-time enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the game without an old style CRT television set. As the zapper gun doesn’t play nicely with modern HD flatscreens, Nintendo has modified this version of the game with an on-screen cross-hair monitoring the movement of the Wiimote.
