LG will be showing off a range of webOS 2.0-powered TVs at CES 2015 in January.
The first generation of LG webOS TVs apparently sold five million units in just eight months. Now the Korean manufacturer is preparing to launch the next generation at CES 2015, which takes place in Las Vegas from January 6 to January 9.
Among the improvements that the new version of the former smartphone OS will bring to LG's TV range, perhaps the most prominant is speed. Besides being extremely intuitive, webOS for TV has always been very responsive, but it's set to get even more so.
WebOS 2.0 will boot up 60 percent faster, while accessing apps will also be a far swifter affair. LG uses the example of the YouTube app, which apparently loads up 70 percent faster in the new OS.
Also new here is a My Channels option, which will enable users to add their own favourite TV channels to the launcher bar for quick access.
Another new convenience measure is Quick Settings, which lets you tweak your LG TV without navigating away from the current program.

LG has also announced that partnerships with Netflix and Amazon will bring "a huge selection" of 4K UHD content to its webOS-powered TV sets.
"With the newest features introduced in webOS 2.0, the overall user experience has become even simpler, easier and more intuitive," said LG's In-kyu Lee.
