Sky has just updated its mobile app with a new photo-flinging feature that lets you show off smartphone pictures on your TV.
The latest version of Sky now enables users to view photos stored on your mobile device on a nearby television completely wirelessly.
As long as you’re on the same Wi-Fi network as your Sky HD box, you can commandeer the TV and proudly display your holiday camera roll or a trusty selection of cat memes – the choice is yours.
Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s Director of TV Products, says users can share photos with family ‘simply, quickly and easily’ thanks to the new update.
“We know customers already love the Sky app and now it’s even better,” boasts Bradley-Jones.
“It’s all part of our commitment to make Sky the ultimate entertainment experience.”
Sky’s app still retains all of its original features, including using your mobile device as a remote control for your TV, and setting your Sky box to record TV shows while you’re on the move.
Other updates include a ‘New & Recommended’ feature that offers up the latest and greatest of audiovisual entertainment, and a new sports shortcut for easier access to content.
If you want to start viewing pictures on your TV, you’ll need to make sure you have the latest software on your Sky HD box.
Sky says the update is set to roll out across the nation this year.
You’ll also need to download the new version of the Sky app via iTunes or the Google Play store.
The Sky app is free to download for Sky TV customers, and works across both iOS and Android devices.
