Spotify Family announced as price-slashing group plan

Spotify has revealed Spotify Family, giving audiophile households an easy way to share out the musical love.

The new service will allow you to invite up to four family members, with memberships lumped together in one easy-to-chew bill.

Your own music. Your own playlists and recommendations. But just one simple family bill,” says Spotify, announcing the service.

What’s more, Spotify has promised to chop off 50 per cent from each additional user’s Premium membership cost.

“Having a family can be expensive. But music doesn’t have to be,” reads the announcement.

“With Spotify Family you can now invite up to four family members to your account.”

It also solves the problem whereby your playlist cuts out when another member of your household starts playing music through the same Spotify account on their own device.

Spotify reckons the service is great for ‘big families with lots of devices’, because it allows everyone to play their own music at the same time. Just pray your neighbours don’t sign up…

Spotify Family will be rolling out worldwide ‘over the upcoming weeks’, although there’s no specific date given just yet.
