Like this, but with dual 13-megapixel cameras
The HTC One M8 Eye – the 13-megapixel version of the One M8 – won't be coming to Europe, HTC has confirmed.
Fudzilla says it interviewed an unnamed product manager at HTC. The site writes: "The representative said the HTC One M8 [Eye] was designed for specific markets, especially India, and he said that the device lacks some features like infrared found on the high-end HTC One M8."
We've contacted HTC UK for confirmation, and will update this story when we hear back.
It's not all doom and gloom for us Brits. HTC unveiled the HTC Desire Eye recently as well, and just like the One M8 Eye, it features 13-megapixel cameras on the front and on the back.
For its high-end handsets, HTC is sticking to its ultrapixel guns here in the west. The One M8 features an ultrapixel sensor that has bigger pixels than a standard smartphone shooter. This lets in more light, which makes for better low-light snaps.
It has a standard 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
The HTC Desire Eye is listed as "coming soon" on the HTC UK site. We're expecting it to drop sometime next month.
HTC also said that its Dotview case – for the One M8, which lets you see info like the time and weather and perform some gestures without opening the case – is its most successful accessory ever. It plans to expand it to a wide range of handsets.
