Sony has announced a new mid-range smartphone, the Sony Xperia T3, which it claims is the thinnest 5.3-inch smartphone.
It features a 5.3-inch 1280 x 720p HD display, but is just 7mm thick.
“Xperia T3 has been crafted with attention to detail for those who know how to appreciate distinctive design in their everyday life,” said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile. “The T3 is packed with the latest beautiful technology from Sony – including leading digital imaging expertise and a vivid HD display – all within a stylish, stainless steel frame.”
Sony Xperia T3 Features
The Sony Xperia T3 runs on a quad-core 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, powered by a 2,500mAh battery.
This is used to support the large 5.3-inch 1280 x 720p display running Android 4.4 KitKat, which is crammed into a body just 7mm thick.
It comes with 4G connectivity, which could be a very appealing quality if the price point is particularly attractive. This is paired with the usual Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and NFC connectivity.
Although the T3 doesn’t quite offer the camera specs of the flagship Sony Xperia Z2, it does have an 8-megapixel rear camera with features like timeshift burst, portrait retouch and creative effects.
That rear camera comes with auto focus, 8x digital zoom and is capable of 1080p full HD video recording. There is also a 720p 1.1-megapixel front-facing camera for video calling.
As for internal storage, the Xperia T3 comes with 8GB as standard, but you can expand that with an additional 32GB via microSD card.
Sony Xperia T3 Release Date and Price
Availability for the Sony Xperia T3 will begin globally in July 2014. Although it is said to be a mid-range device, actual pricing details for the T3 have yet to be announced.
It comes in black, white and purple.
