OS X Yosemite Photos app coming 2015
Apple has confirmed it will release a brand new photo solution for the new Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite in 2015.
This will be a brand new Photos app for Mac that will mirror that offered in iOS 8.
“We are working on a new grounds-up photo solution for the Mac. It’s going to ship early next year”, revealed Craig Federighi, VP of Software Engineering at Apple.
The aim is to make it much more useable than the current iPhone software on the app, and will make sure you get “beautiful buttery scrolling”, regardless of the amount of photos you have.
Moments, Collections and Years views from iOS 7 and iOS 8 will be introduced to the Mac version of Photos, grouping your images and videos into easily viewable sections.
From the brief demo given during WWDC, the entire interface of Photos for Mac has been simplified letting you edit and adjust your images without complicated tools. This is helped by enhancements to the smart editing features that make it more powerful.
Of course this new Photos will tie in to the new iCloud Drive system, which gives you 5GB of storage for free.
If you want more, you can get 20GB for $0.99 per month and then 200GB of $3.99 per month.
There are purchase tiers up to 1TB apparently, but Apple has yet to reveal pricing for these.
