Sharing your PS4 gaming sessions is about to get even easier with Sony confirming its latest console will add YouTube support later this year.
Further enhancing the abilities of the console’s Share Button, found on the PS4 controller, gamers will soon be able to upload impressive gameplay clips to their personal YouTube channels with a single press.
“We’ve heard what you’re looking for, powerful ways to share your experience,” Shawn Layden, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America said speaking during the company’s E3 press conference.
“Neary 95 per cent of PS4s worldwide are connected to the network,” he said. “1.25 billion hours of gaming have been logged and the Share Button has been pressed 220 million times.”
Looking to the future Layden added: "That metric will climb even higher when we bring YouTube to the PS4 later this year.
“With a press of the Share button PS4 users will be able to upload videos direct to their YouTube channels.”
As well as letting gamers share their own video clips direct to YouTube, Sony will introduce an easy way to keep up with the videos shared by those you know.
Layden stated: “The ‘What’s New’ activity feed will also offer your friends’ YouTube captures.”
Despite confirming YouTube will hit the PS4 later this year, Sony has failed to offer a more precise rollout window for the new compatibility options.
