It’s time to forget Need for Speed and Burnout franchises, EA has a new racing IP in the works with all manner of vehicles being introduced.
Teased during the publisher’s E3 2014 press conference out in LA, the title – which has yet to be named – is being developed by Criterion in Guildford.
There is currently no word on a planned release window, but the early look at this first-person racer suggests that it is still some way off.
Although Criterion is renowned for its car racing titles, this upcoming title is set to move well beyond that, with the release to let gamers get behind the controls of motorbikes, jet skis, ATVs and, of course, cars.
“We don’t typically show things this early but this is very cool,” EA said in unveiling the game before suggesting it stood no chance of keeping such a big game secret anyway.
Teased by the game’s own developers, the Criterion team stated: “Our history is cars but it’s time for us to explore new adventures.”
They added: “This new IP gives you the chance to move beyond cars. It really is the ultimate game. This is going to be the biggest game ever made at Criterion.”
Despite being a very early look at the expansive game, the teaser video suggested that the lengthy list of playable titles will be wide enough to include the likes of wakeboarding, skiing and even surfing.
We can’t wait to see exactly what this new Criterion title has to offer, we hope to find out more during E3 this week so stay tuned to TrustedReviews for all the latest.
