Tomb Raider for PS4 and Xbox One announcement tipped for December 7

A new Xbox One and PS4 edition of the Tomb Raider reboot could be announced on December 7 at the VGX awards.

Square Enix has hinted that an official announcement for a Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for Xbox One and PS4 will happen at VGX in early December.

Speaking to IGN, a Square Enix spokeperson hinted that a next-generation port of the Tomb Raider reboot will be announced soon, despite a lack of any official information as yet.

“It’s so hard to keep a secret these days! We appreciate all of the enthusiasm; however we don’t have any details to share just yet. That said, we highly recommend you keep an eye on any major gaming events happening in early December”, said the Square Enix rep.

VGX, previously known as the Spike VGA Awards, takes place on December 7 and has recently been used to showcase big upcoming blockbusters, including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

This year it seems Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition and Fallout 4 could be making appearances.

The comment came in response to a listing for the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on Amazon Italy earlier this week.

It was featured with a January 24 PS4 release date, with a secondary listing for an unknown “next-gen” console which is bound to be the Xbox One rather than the Wii U.

Amazon Italy said the Definitive Edition of the Tomb Raider 2013 reboot will come with all the game’s existing DLC and anyone pre-ordering it from the site would receive an exclusive art book.

The latest Tomb Raider game was released on March 5 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and was met with critical acclaim for the series new direction and fresh approach.
