Google has launched the Nexus Wireless Charger for its Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones, as well as for its Nexus 7 tablets.
The device is available now on the US and Canada Google Play Stores for a price of $49.99. Here in the UK, it’s simply listed as 'Coming soon.'
It will enable users of these Nexus phones (and tablets) to charge their devices without having to plug them in. All they need to do is lay the device down on the square plate-like Nexus Wireless Charger, and it’ll charge up through inductive technology.
The new Nexus Charger is a surprisingly small device at just 60 x 60mm and 12.5mm thick, but that doesn’t mean that your Nexus 7 will be balanced precariously on top. According to the Google Play Store blurb, "your tablet just snaps into place on the magnetic face."
Apparently the charger also adheres to whatever surface it’s laid on, so you’ll have a securely fastened charging station wherever you choose to set it up.
Elsewhere, Google has also made its Nexus 5 Bumper Case available for purchase, providing colourful protection for the latest flagship Android smartphone. It’s available to buy now on the Google Play Store for £24.99.
It’s a pretty typical-looking case that covers all but the screen of your Nexus 5 with a "hard outer shell and soft rubber lining," and it’s fully compatible with wireless chargers like the above. It comes in grey, yellow, black or red.
