Anyone purchasing a PlayStation Vita by the end of 2013 will receive a free 30 day subscription to PlayStation Plus.
The European exclusive offer is only running until the end of December this year, but will enable new PS Vita owners to benefit from PlayStation Plus, just in time for the UK PS4 release date on November 29.
Buyers will need to link their new PS Vita consoles to a Sony Entertainment Network account by December 31 in order to qualify for the PS Plus deal, and receive their access code.
New PS Vita owners making the purchase before December 31 who is an existing PS Plus subscriber on PS3 or PS4 will get an additional month added to their contract for free.
“Buy a PS Vita system and link it to your Sony Entertainment Network account between now and 31st December 2013 and we’ll send you a voucher code for a whole month’s PlayStation Plus membership at no extra cost,” reads the PlayStation blog. “That means access to an Instant Game Collection, exclusive PlayStation Store discounts, cloud storage and loads more for your PS Vita PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.”
PlayStation Plus on PS Vita offers a host of “top-rated (Metacritic rating of 70 or more)” games for free via the PS Plus Instant Game collection. Currently, you can get Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush for PS Vita.
The content available through PS Plus rotates every month, and from November 27 you can download Guacamelee, Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed and Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories, which will replace Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD.
The PS Vita is currently retailing for around £170 online and in stores, with several retailers offering the handheld console as part of a PS4 bundle.
