Nokia may be preparing to spring a surprise at its Nokia World event later this month, by returning to the laptop market, judging by an official image released by the company on Thursday.
Ahead of its October 22 event in Abu Dhabi, the company offered a teaser encouraging users to 'watch the action on your screen of choice.' The image depicts a smartphone, a tablet and a laptop computer. Intriguing to say the least.
It has long been suspected that Nokia will launch the Lumia 1520, set to be the first Full HD 1080p Windows Phone device, alongside the Nokia 'Sirius' tablet - a full 10.1-inch model running on the Windows RT operating system and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.,
However, the launch of a laptop would constitute somewhat of a shock. There have been no hints and leaks in the last few months, and they have been particularly prominent in the build up to recent Nokia launches.
Also, the company's last foray into the notebook market with the Nokia Booklet back in 2009 was largely forgettable, so why would it be plotting a comeback?
In a post on the Nokia Conversations blog, the company wrote: "the webcast from the event will be broadcast right here on Conversations, so that you can watch the action on your screen of choice!"
It's also possible that all Nokia is doing is promoting the availability of the stream across multiple platforms rather than teasing the launch of an own-branded laptop.
Nokia is live streaming the event to the world on October 22 from 8am UK time, which is less than two weeks away, so we won't have to wait long to see what they company has up its sleeve.
