New iPad 5 leaks have surfaced, with the latest images of the upcoming tablet showing a device with an iPhone 5S inspired Space Grey finish.
With the iPad 5 release date widely expected to be officially announced at a dedicated launch event on October 22, the latest iPad 5 leaks have offered an early insight into what the next-generation Apple tablet could look like.
Widely expected to be coming in for something of a large scale redesign, the newly leaked iPad 5 pictures, which have surfaced courtesy of serial Apple tipster Sonny Dickson, have shown the upcoming device alongside an existing iPad 4.
As well as highlighting the colour change from the standard silver to the new iPhone 5S introduced ‘Space Grey’ finish, the new iPad 5 leaks have again hinted that the eagerly awaited tablet will sport a thinner, narrower bezelled design, similar to that of the iPad mini.
With the new leaks showing a tablet with a Space Grey metallic finish on both the rear and face of the device, the images match with claimed iPad 5 designs which have surfaced in recent weeks.
“We’ve gotten our hands on a number of sharp high-res images of the Space Grey 5th-gen iPad casing and front panel,” the tipsters proudly state. “Notably, it shows off the highly anticipated slimmer iPad-mini like design it is expected to launch with.”
Although the iPad 5 is expected to play host to the same 9.7-inch Retina display as its predecessor, recent iPad 5 rumours have pointed to the tablet’s overall form factor slimming down from 18.5cm wide to a more one-hand manageable 17cm wide. This narrowing is set to be made possible by the introduction of a heavily reduced bezel.
Further iPad 5 specs to have been mooted ahead of launch are the potential inclusion of the iPhone 5S introduced 64-bit A7 processor, improved camera optics and, of course, the latest iOS 7 operating system.
Although believed to be heading to launch later this year, the iPad 5 does not look set to have the limelight all to itself. Also believed to be heading for an October 22 unveiling is the much mooted iPad mini 2, a device expected to add a Retina display to its considerable bag of tricks.
