A gold HTC One has been confirmed by the Taiwanese manufacturer, with the limited edition phone to set wannabe owners back £2,750.
With the luxurious edition of the premium handset limited to just five units, the gold rendition of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5S rival will be made even harder to come by with one handset being handed out to this year’s MOBO Awards Best Newcomer winner.
With polished 18-carat gold plating having been applied to both the front and rear of the handset, the gold HTC One will also feature a MOBO 18 logo laser-etched onto the phone’s back. The new high-end finish builds on the already impressive brushed aluminium HTC One design.
"The best artists have always been given gold discs to celebrate their success, but today most people listen to music on their phone. We wanted to celebrate that fact,” Phil Blair, HTC’s President of Europe, the Middle East and Africa said.
He added: “We're sure the winning MOBO artist will love their unique phone and we will even be giving a lucky member of the general public the chance to get their hands on one soon too."
Under the bonnet, the gold HTC One is the same as its standard siblings, with a 4.7-inch 1080p Full HD display lining up alongside a 1.7GHz quad-core processor and a 4-Ultrapixel rear-mounted camera.
With a secondary snapper up front, the gold HTC One adds the company’s now popular BoomSound stereo speakers, 2GB of RAM and Google’s Android Jelly Bean OS alongside the much loved HTC Sense UI overlay.
The gold HTC One follows the recent introduction of a gold iPhone 5S, a handset which was quickly followed by two different gold Samsung Galaxy S4 options.
