Nextbase 402G Professional
Halfords has announced a new line of dash-cams, with the Nextbase range set to give drivers the ability to reveal the truth behind car accidents.
Capturing the view through a car's windscreen in real-time, the recorders are able to capture events before, during and after any collision.
The footage can help drivers resolve insurance claims, proving the fraudulent behaviour of "crash for cash" scammers who deliberately cause accidents and lie about the number of passengers in their car.
“The range of recording devices we now offer means that we can provide drivers with the means to produce evidence of how an incident occurred and who is at fault should the need arise," said Alec James, Halfords in-car technology manager.
“They represent great value for money, capture high-quality digital footage - which is essential for insurers - and offer a range of useful additional features to suit drivers’ needs.”
Halfords Nextbase camera features
Ensuring they are able to meet the needs of all manner of consumners, the retailer has revealed that there will be three cameras in Halfords Nextbase dash-cam range.
The Nextbase 202 Lite is the simplest option. With a 1.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 120-degree wide angle camera and built in microphone, it films AVI video while attached to the vehicle as well as 10 minutes of back-up footage when detached. It has a 6.85cm display with a 1280 x 720 pixel screen and supports up to 32GB SD card.
Next in the line is the the Nextbase 302G Deluxe, a device which plays host to the same array of features as the 202 Lite, with infra-red night vision thrown into the mix. Further additions include GPS logging to track location and a 3-Axis G-sensor to record impact direction and acceleration.
The priciest option, the Nextbase 402G Professional, has even more additional features, videoing much-clearer footage in MOV format. It has a 1920 x 1080 pixel screen and a HD light-sensitive chip with WDR (wide dynamic range) technology. It supports a 32GB Micro SD.
