The Fitbit Force has been officially announced, with the company’s latest fitness tracker finally introducing a display.
Offering a new display over the original Fitbit Flex, the Force also offers a built-in altimeter and will soon offer smartphone notifications and caller ID.
“We are continuously looking for ways to take wireless tracking devices and wearable technologies to the next level, and I feel strongly that Force, with its sophisticated design and instant and easy access to all your daily activity right on your wrist, delivers on the promise of what a next-generation activity tracker should be,” said James Park, CEO and Co-Founder of Fitbit.
Fitbit Force Features
The Fitbit Force features a new OLED display that tracks your fitness achievements in realtime throughout the day, something that was distinctly lacking in the Fitbit Flex. You’ll be able to quickly see how many steps you’ve taken, how far you’ve travelled, how many calories you’ve burned and floors you’ve climbed.
All the data is wirelessly synched to Android and iOS devices and to your computer. The fitness tracker also monitors your sleep patterns and has alarm functionality too.
The Fitbit Force will also have increased smartphone compatibility coming with a software update. The fitness tracker will be able to display incoming call notifications when you’re smartphone is within range.
Equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 LE, the Fitbit Force has a battery life of 7-10 days.
Fitbit Force Release Date and Price
The Fitbit Force can be pre-ordered from today, with availability arriving within the next two – three weeks. It is available to buy in black or slate for $129.95 (£80).
