Halo developer Bungie has revealed the first gameplay footage and details of its brand new next-gen shooter, Destiny, running on Sony's freshly announced PS4 console.
The company revealed these fresh details at Sony's big event on the eve of E3. The trailer reveals an epic multiplayer first person shooter set in a stunning sci-fi world.
During the presentation, two members of Bungie teamed up to clear out a section of a huge wall filled with alien foes. The game's loot and class system appears to show that the game will meld a series of MMORPG elements to Bungie's established wide-scale FPS template, as seen in Halo.
Destiny is a persistently connected first person shooter that's coming to PS4 and Xbox One, as well as to the current generation of consoles - the PS3 and Xbox 360. The deal to bring the game to Sony platforms is notable because Bungie used to produce games exclusively for Microsoft's consoles.
In fact, it was revealed back in February that the PS4 will get exclusive Destiny content, so it's quite the turn-around from the days when Bungie's Halo series defined the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles.
Bungie has revealed a rather vague 2014 release window for Destiny. Both the PS4 and Xbox One will launch by the end of 2013, so Destiny won't be a launch title for the next generation of consoles.
