The Apple Store is closed, new products are imminent
The online Apple store has closed its virtual doors ahead of this evening’s WWDC 2013 Keynote speech, suggesting the Cupertino based company is set to launch new devices.
While it is widely expected the WWDC 2013 keynote will see the heavily rumoured iOS 7 mobile operating system update confirmed, it now appears Apple will unveil new hardware offerings, sparking much speculation over a possible iPhone 5S or iPad 5 launch.
Handing the digital storefront over to its now familiar placeholder image, the Apple store is emblazoned with a note which reads: “We’ll be back. We’re busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon.”
Although iOS 7 is expected to take much of the keynote focus, it is more than possible that the iPad mini manufacturer could be about to introduce refreshed MacBook and even iMac lines.
Less likely, although still a possibility, the iPad 5 has been tipped for a WWDC unveiling in recent days, with a selection of accessory manufacturers launching iPad 5 cases in preparation for the tablet’s potential arrival.
Acknowledging the speculative nature of the iPad 5 case launches, Tim Hickham, CEO of Gumdrop, one of the manufacturers to just the iPad 5 gun, suggested the preemptive move could prove highly lucrative if Appel does indeed launch its next-gen tablet this week.
He stated: “Business has been good to Gumdrop and we can afford to take a pretty big bet, because the payoff is massive if we are right.”
