The Moto 360 could have a smaller battery than Motorola originally advertised.
Thanks to a teardown of the Moto 360, it looks like Motorola might be telling a few porkies about the battery size of its first wearable.
When taking apart the round watch and examining its parts, iFixit has discovered that the 360’s battery is labelled as 300mAh.
That’s 20mAh less than the 320mAh advertised by Motorola, meaning the device may not last as long as the 24 hour period Motorola claims it will.
A 300mAh battery is only 75 per cent of that offered by its rival, the LG G Watch, which has a 400mAh battery.
The 360’s 300mAh battery and four year old, power-hungry Texas Instruments OMAP 3 CPU certainly don’t add up for a day-long use for Motorola’s smartwatch.
Of course, the Moto 360 does have some things that the other Android Wear devices don’t, such as inductive wireless charging and an ambient light sensor.
The latter will contribute to a shorter battery life though, as it does in other devices like smartphones or tablets.
The Moto 360 features a 1.5-inch 320 x 290p backlit LCD display running Android Wear, protected Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
That is set in a chunky 11mm thick body that is 46mm in diameter. You get 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
It will retail for £199.99 when it goes on sale in the UK sometime in early October.
